Small businesses ‘struggling to understand cloud computing concept’

Many small businesses are finding it hard to get to grips with the concept of using cloud computing solutions on hosted systems.

This is according to research carried out by online business marketplace, which found 43 per cent of small and medium-sized enterprises not using cloud computing do not know what the term means.

Around 74 per cent of those organisations questioned do not employ cloud computing.

However, this is a lower figure than the 82 per cent recorded in a survey from last June.

But founder and Chief Executive Officer Xenios Thrasyvoulou said: “Small businesses are yet to be convinced of the advantages of accessing the amount of computer processing power and memory available online.”

Last week, the potential advantages of cloud computing to such organisations were highlighted by James Hall, Marketing Director at infrastructure optimisation company Teneo, who told Channel Web the technology can allow them to compete more evenly with their larger rivals.
