Park your vehicle using a mobile phone
In a move to ease parking hassles, the Delhi government is proposing to set up two smart parking lots in the city where people can pay using their mobile phone and even get the availability of parking space displayed on their phone screens, an official said on Tuesday.
According to officials, a presentation on the IT-enabled Parking Management System was made before Chief Minister Sheila Diksh It Tuesday. The step is being taken in a bid to curb the control of parking lots by parking mafias, the pilferage of revenue and encroachment on non-parking areas in the national capital.
“The proposal relating to development of a web-based parking solution which will eliminate human intervention has been submitted. It is proposed to develop two pilot projects at Bhikaji Cama Place and GK-II initially,” an official said.
The meeting, headed by Dikshit, was also attended by Delhi chief secretary Rakesh Mehta, Municipal Corporation of Delhi Commissioner K.S. Mehra, New Delhi Municipal Council Chairperson Parimal Rai, and joint commissioner of police (Traffic) S.P. Garg besides other senior officers.
“The chief minister instructed the officers to constitute a core group under the chairmanship of the chief secretary to study the proposal and submit comments. The city government will take appropriate action only after examining the recommendations by the group,” added the official.
